The Legend of Hang Tuah
This is part of my 'Pupp-cycled' series. I made this puppet out of packing paper from an online order and used him to tell the tale of legendary Malaysian warrior Hang Tuah. This was inspired by Pointless Theatre Co.'s adaptation of the Tuah myth, which we hope to perform live one day soon when the world heals a bit more. In the meantime, check this short film out! (sound on :)
A 'pocket crankie' or tiny scrolling puppet show I built to celebrate Edgar Allan Poe's last published poem Annabel Lee. This was also inspired by the at home audio drama exploration of Poe done with my theater company We Happy Few DC. Check that out here: https://www.wehappyfewdc.com/poeaudio
A conceptual digital puppet short film collaboration I did with synth composer NRG RNNR for the Rhizome DC Virtual Puppet Slam 2020. Artist statement: "Irreality" was born in the unrest of the present with isolation and civil uprising marking the day. It juxtaposes mundane tedium with the splashy, childlike whimsy of the inanimate made incarnate. The term is defined as, the state of being insubstantial or imaginary; not existing objectively or in fact.
